Robots are everywhere, and Amazon has made it easier to order food from Amazon.com, thanks to a robot that can deliver food and other items from a mobile robot that’s parked outside your home.
The robot, called the Meccano, can drive up to 200 feet (91 meters) away and pick up packages of food, which is delivered via an Amazon app.
“We’ve added an automated delivery system to our robots that is now available for all Amazon robots,” Amazon spokesman Mark Sullivan said.
The Meccanos were unveiled this week in the company’s headquarters in New York City.
It’s not clear if the robot will be able to deliver groceries to homes.
In addition to food delivery, Amazon has added a new food delivery service, Amazon Fresh, that allows users to order fresh produce and groceries from an Amazon.ca website.
The service costs $20 a month for up to seven days and is available for customers in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom and Australia.
The company has also announced a new “Amazon Mobile” app that allows people to order products online and get them delivered in less than five minutes.
